Does that matter? For wine, yes — repeated swings do more harm than a steady temperature slightly off target. The usual causes are airflow around the condenser, a door seal that has aged, or a thermistor drifting. All three are ordinary repairs, and all three are missed by anybody treating it like a refrigerator. ### It is built into cabinetry and it seems to struggle in summer. Then look at where its heat goes. These units are surrounded on three sides by joinery and vent through a grille at the front or the base; a blocked grille, or a cabinet built tighter than the specification, will cost several degrees in August and none in January. It is the first thing we check on a seasonal complaint. ### Is there an error code to read? No — GE publishes none for wine and beverage centers.
