# GE condenser and airflow service

What this involves

The maker's own first check

Floor-level coils fill faster here than any manual assumes

Often restores cooling with no part at all

Open the grille and look

What comes out of a two-year-old coil in this city surprises people. The photograph is part of the service.

Clean the coil and the fan

The condenser fan matters as much as the coil, and a fan slowed by debris produces the same symptom as a dirty coil.

Check the clearances around the cabinet

Built-in units vent through a grille with a specification behind it. Cabinetry built tight costs degrees in August and none in January.

Re-measure the cabinet

Before and after. If cleaning did not move the temperature, that is information and the diagnosis continues rather than stopping at a guess.

What the before and after tell you

Cabinet temperature both ways, recorded. If cleaning moved it, that was the problem. If it did not, the cheapest cause has been eliminated with a measurement and the diagnosis goes on.
