# GE dishwasher drain repair

What this involves

The disposer plug and the high loop first

Filter and sump before the pump

The pump is the expensive one and the rarer one

Check the disposer and the air gap

A new disposer with an unremoved plug is the single commonest cause of this call, and it is a five-minute answer rather than a repair.

The drain hose and its high loop

A hose that has slipped down siphons and holds water. Re-securing it is the repair.

Filter, sump and the check valve

Cleared and inspected. Glass, seeds and labels end up here and stop the pump doing its job without breaking it.

Only then the drain pump

Tested for current and obstruction before it is replaced, because a blocked pump and a failed one behave the same from the doorway.

What we show you before we leave

The drain path running, from the tub to the disposer, with the kick plate off. If the cause was outside the machine you get to see that it was.
