Lights, each speed, and on a downdraft the lift. What still works narrows it more than any measurement.

Filters and the air path

A saturated mesh filter passes very little air and looks nearly normal. On recirculating hoods the charcoal filter is often years past its life.

Blower, capacitor and speed switch

Lights working with a dead fan points here, and all three are ordinary parts.

On downdrafts, the lift mechanism

Motor, belt or gear rack. These are the most mechanical hoods GE makes and the moving part is usually the problem.
