A possible leak has been detected, and on models with leak detection the cycle stops. The appliance has decided that stopping is safer than finishing, which is the right call and worth respecting rather than resetting past.
Where this code actually appears
On the control panel, and usually with a sound. GE describes their refrigerator codes as flashing green on the display and typically accompanied by a beeping, and the range, microwave and dishwasher tables all describe codes you can read from the front of the appliance. That is the opposite of some makes, where the number is written into a hidden log and never shown — here, if something is wrong, the appliance generally tells you. Photograph what it says before cutting the power, because a reset erases it and the code is most of the diagnosis.
What to do about it
- Do not simply restart it. The machine stopped the cycle for a reason.
- Look underneath and behind for water, including at the hose connections and the door gasket along its lower edge.
- Check the float and the leak sensor in the base tray — a sensor sitting in water from an old spill will keep reporting.
- This is a service call rather than a reset: a leak that has reached the base tray has come from somewhere.
