Refrigerant work is licensed, it needs recovery equipment, and it is governed by EPA rules. It is also the most expensive thing that can happen to a refrigerator, which is exactly why it has to be ruled in by measurement and never by symptom — a warm cabinet is airflow, defrost or the sealed system, and only one of those costs this much. When the numbers say the sealed system and the appliance is old enough, we say plainly that the money is better spent elsewhere.
