What CC means, in the maker's own words
Check the temperature controls, because the refrigerator temperature is incorrect. It is the appliance saying that what it is holding does not match what it was asked for — which is a starting point rather than a diagnosis, and can be as simple as a setting somebody changed.
Where this code actually appears
On the control panel, and usually with a sound. GE describes their refrigerator codes as flashing green on the display and typically accompanied by a beeping, and the range, microwave and dishwasher tables all describe codes you can read from the front of the appliance. That is the opposite of some makes, where the number is written into a hidden log and never shown — here, if something is wrong, the appliance generally tells you. Photograph what it says before cutting the power, because a reset erases it and the code is most of the diagnosis.
Which machines this one applies to
Refrigerators with electronic dispenser controls. GE says plainly on their own range and oven table that they cannot list every code for every model past and present, so a code missing from their table is not proof that your appliance cannot raise it — and a code in it is not proof that yours can. The model number settles it.
What to do about it
- Check the set points against GE's own recommendation: 37°F in the fresh food compartment and 0°F in the freezer.
- Check the airflow. A cabinet packed to the back wall or a vent blocked by a box will miss the target while everything is working.
- Give it time after a change. A cabinet takes hours to settle, and a code read ten minutes after somebody moved a dial is not evidence.
- If the settings are right and the cabinet is not, the sensing or the airflow is the next step and both are measured.
