Not an error. GE lists tC under Normal Function Codes: it is the TurboCool setting running, and it can look like EC or an upside-down F with a C on some displays. The appliance is doing what somebody asked it to do.
Where this code actually appears
On the control panel, and usually with a sound. GE describes their refrigerator codes as flashing green on the display and typically accompanied by a beeping, and the range, microwave and dishwasher tables all describe codes you can read from the front of the appliance. That is the opposite of some makes, where the number is written into a hidden log and never shown — here, if something is wrong, the appliance generally tells you. Photograph what it says before cutting the power, because a reset erases it and the code is most of the diagnosis.

Models with TurboCool · GE lists this as a normal function code. GE says plainly on their own range and oven table that they cannot list every code for every model past and present, so a code missing from their table is not proof that your appliance cannot raise it — and a code in it is not proof that yours can. The model number settles it.
What to do about it
- Nothing needs fixing. TurboCool runs for a set period and then returns the cabinet to its normal settings.
- If you did not turn it on, somebody or something did — the control is easy to trigger while cleaning.
- If the display is genuinely unreadable rather than showing tC, that is a display problem and a different conversation.
