GE induction cooktop repair

Induction fails in its electronics rather than in elements, zone by zone, and it protects itself by switching off. A top that cuts out during cooking is usually reporting something — an overheated coil, a blocked vent underneath, or a pan it no longer detects — rather than failing at random.

How this visit actually goes

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

  1. 01

Establish which zones and with which pans

Induction needs ferrous cookware and a base that matches the zone. A pan that works on one zone and not another is information.

  2. 02

Check the ventilation under the cabinet

These run electronics under a hot surface and need airflow the installation may never have given them.

  3. 03

Test the coil and its board

Zone by zone, because they are separate assemblies and one failing does not condemn the rest.

  4. 04

Confirm with a full cooking test

At sustained high power, which is the condition that produces the cut-out.

  5. 05

    Tested at sustained high power

Which is the condition that produces a cut-out. A zone that works for two minutes has not been tested; a zone that holds a boil has.

    GE cooktop repair in Miami

Drop-in cooktops in all three technologies. The most common call is a single burner or zone that stopped, and the most common surprise is that a radiant or induction surface can be performing exactly as designed while the cooking is poor — because the pan is wrong for it.

    GE range repair in Miami

Freestanding and slide-in ranges in every fuel GE sells: electric, gas, induction and dual fuel, single and double oven. This is the appliance that reports itself most clearly — GE publishes a table of the codes a range displays — and also the one where the display is most often misread, because half those codes point at the same circuit.

    • Electric, gas, induction and dual fuel
    • GE publishes a code table for these — we read it, not guess
    • Self-clean is behind a surprising share of the calls

About GE induction cooktop repair

Cutting out is often protection working

An induction hob that stops mid-cook and comes back a few minutes later is usually not failing — it is protecting itself from heat it cannot get rid of. These are electronics under a glass sheet and they are cooled by a fan drawing air from beneath the counter, so the ventilation under the appliance is part of the appliance. A drawer packed against the intake causes exactly this. Beyond that it is diagnosed zone by zone, because what still works narrows what cannot be causing it.

Questions about GE induction cooktop repair

It cuts out and restarts after a few minutes.

That reads like thermal protection. The first thing to check is what is under the hob and whether air can get to it.

My pan is not recognized.

Induction needs ferrous cookware — if a magnet does not stick to the base, the hob is right and the pan is wrong.
