About GE oven temperature calibration and sensor
Calibration before any part
Most GE ovens can be recalibrated from the control panel, and an oven that is consistently out by fifteen or twenty degrees is often asking for exactly that rather than for a part. It is checked with an independent probe, not with the oven's own reading, because an oven that is wrong cannot be used to prove it is wrong. Where calibration does not hold, the sensor is measured against GE's published resistance table. This is a cheap repair with an expensive reputation.

Questions about GE oven temperature calibration and sensor
Everything comes out underdone. Is the oven broken?
Not necessarily. A consistent offset is usually calibration; wildly different results from one bake to the next is more likely the sensor.
Can I calibrate it myself?
On many models yes. The sequence is in the owner's manual, and you need an oven thermometer to know what to calibrate it to.
