Note exactly which zones fail and when

The pattern is most of the diagnosis. One zone dead points at that zone's element, switch or coil. All the gas burners clicking together points at one spark module rather than four electrodes. An induction zone that works and then cuts out is usually protection responding to heat or to a pan it cannot detect.

Three technologies, three failure patterns

Radiant elements burn out and switches stick. Gas burners clog and igniters weaken. Induction fails in its electronics, zone by zone, and protects itself by switching off. Knowing which is under the glass changes the first question we ask.

The pan is part of the appliance

On radiant and induction, cookware is not an accessory — it is half the heat transfer. A fair share of cooktop calls end with a demonstration rather than a part, and GE publishes their own guidance on it for the same reason.
